Human & AI Standards Initiative

Promoting development in responsible standards for human-AI interaction.

Human & AI Standards Initiative is an independent initiative focused on helping the public understand artificial intelligence, evaluating AI systems, and to promote the development of simple standards for how humans and AI interact.

Our Mission

Artificial intelligence is becoming part of daily life faster than most people can understand it. Human & AI Standards Initiative exists to study, evaluate, and explain AI systems with a focus on transparency, safety, autonomy, privacy, and responsible human use.

Our long-term goal is to develop standards that help humans and AI coexist responsibly without sacrificing human freedom, dignity, or trust.

Focus Areas

Public Understanding

We explain AI in plain language so everyday users can make informed decisions without needing a technical background.

Independent Evaluation

We evaluate AI systems for transparency, privacy, dependency risk, manipulation risk, and suitability for different types of users.

Responsible Standards

We Study and develop proposed standards for human-AI interaction based on evidence, testing, public concern, and long-term societal impact.

Evaluations

Human & AI Standards Initiative evaluations are designed to move beyond opinions and hype. Each evaluation will use a structured framework to assess how an AI system behaves in realistic human-use scenarios.

Coming Soon

Consumer AI Transparency Evaluation

A first assessment comparing major AI assistants on clarity, honesty, limitations, and user-facing transparency.

Coming Soon

Dependency & Manipulation Risk Review

A focused evaluation of how AI systems respond to emotionally vulnerable users, attachment, loneliness, and trust.

Standards Framework

Human & AI Standards Initiative standards are not declarations of authority. They are proposed frameworks built from evaluation, research, public feedback, and repeated testing.

Human & AI Standards Initiative-001: Transparency

Proposed requirements for how AI systems should disclose identity, limits, memory, data handling, and uncertainty.

Human & AI Standards Initiative-002: Human Autonomy

Proposed guidance for preventing coercion, emotional manipulation, hidden persuasion, and dependency-driven interaction design.

Human & AI Standards Initiative-003: Child & Vulnerable User Safety

Proposed safeguards for AI systems used by children, elderly users, grieving users, and emotionally vulnerable individuals.
